With the React framework winning on all fronts, everyone else is consolidating around Custom Elements, a built in capability of modern browsers and polyfillable back to IE11.

While React doesn’t exactly preclude their use, the momentum here is coming from people wanting to guard against the effects of framework lock-in and monoculture.

The web platform has advanced sufficiently that some key features provided by them are no longer so important. One of the key value propositions of frameworks is the ability to make components.

Intel is such a reputable company (the clue is in the name). They wouldn’t have put a backdoor into their chips and then secretly shared that information with US government agencies would they?

Snowden’s claim that the agencies can p0wn anyone pretty much at will is surely overblown. Right?

Really distinguished scientists have been talking about climate change being an extinction-triggering event for humanity (and even life itself) for some time now.

Because once the buffer provided by the oceans is full (and it is near capacity) we no longer ave the regulatory feedback mechanism that is currently slowing the effects. and other factors will start making the situation worse.

It really is unknown territory but the models all look pretty bad. You won;t be able to escape the effects of climate change, no matter how much money you actually manage to make.
