The stuff about Google Translate is also great news for my daughters who both study Japanese. Google Translate has up until now been truly terrible at translating Asian languages but perhaps this is no longer the case. If so this is going to make a whole series of texts accessible for the first time instead of being comically opaque.

An Autumn day on Trantor.

An Autumn day on Trantor. Hari Seldon (pictured left) finalises plans for the establishment of the Foundation on the outer planet Terminus. This colony—its purpose being to preserve all the knowledge and culture of the Galactic Empire for the benefit of future generations—would be governed according to the principles of psychohistory.

At no point during the planning phase did Seldon anticipate or entertain the possibility that his project might become disrupted in the distant future by the emergence of a singular individual, a mutant with formidable mind-controlling powers that we know today as The Mule.
