The so-called safety mechanism is a wire you’re supposed to attach from the back of the unit to the wall behind to prevent it from falling over. This is needed because these units is intrinsically unbalanced with too high a centre of gravity and too small a base. Without the safety wire, they are an accident just waiting to happen.

What percent of purchasers have actually attached this wire? I’m willing to bet not all that many.
