Short battery life issues notwithstanding, perhaps what people need to be doing is to start exercising some willpower rather than forcing themselves to use a dumbphone.
The e-mail doesn’t have to be checked every few minutes. I try not to check my e-mail too often. If it’s something really important, I’d probably get a call.
And you don’t have to respond to every instant message on Viber / LINE / WhatsApp that comes your way. Take control of your time and attention span and you will probably be able to accommodate a smartphone in your life.
